Starting tomorrow (July 1, 2015), New York City is banning single use styrofoam. From what I understand, the way the law is written you can't throw out styrofoam and they are planing on going after businesses that use styrofoam first. But eventually they might go after us "little people" for throwing out styrofoam.

Don't get me wrong, this is a very good idea because styrofoam is bad. I know the thought process is; if NYC bans the horrible substance, other cities will follow suit. All of the good but I live on the border on NYC and do most of my shopping outside NYC limits. So, I'm going to have to bring gallon sized zip-lock bags with me to the supermarket and transfer the meat, produce etc. into the bags before I go back to the city limits. I know banning styrofoam is for the greater good but boy is it going to be a giant pain for a while.

Hubby and I are going away this weekend. Saturday we are going to an 85th birthday party. The party is about an hour and a half away. After the party we are going to drive to Connecticut (about an hour away from the party). We will be staying the night in Connecticut, so that Sunday we can go to a very large, and pretty well known Flea Market ( Hubby has been wanting to go to this Flea Market for a long time, I hope the weather holds up.

I realized I haven't done an icon dump since November and I have plenty to share. These are mostly from icon challenges but a few were made to match banners and a few I made or just for the heck of it.

For some reason lately LJ links haven't been working. Is it just me?

Other than livejournal, where do you wander on the internet? I troll FB once in a while but refuse to get invested in that scene. I have a twitter account and haven't used it in so long I forgot my password. I have a tumblr but don't know how to navigate over there (and I'm not sure of my user name and password.)

My internet travels are getting old and stale. Does anyone have a neat place to visit? (Other than lj ~_^)

Hello all, I hope you all had a nice weekend. I spent Friday doing chores that I hate. I cleaned the microwave and the fridge. Then as a reward I went to Kohls and bought 3 summer shirts and a summer maxi dress (and spent less than $40.00.) Saturday I had a rare afternoon alone. Hubby and daughter went to a ball game and since I hate sports, it was a good excuse for alone time. I enjoyed a dinner of sushi and a quite ninght of photoshop. In case you haven't seen my Disney Willow banner it's here and here is the lj sized banner.

Sunday hubby and I woke up early and went to sister #3's house in New Jersey. Her hubby had quadruple by pass 6 weeks ago and we when to see how he was doing. Hubby and I were both pleased to see he was much better than the last time we saw him (2 weeks after surgery). It was a pleasant day, her condo has a pool so we spent the day shopping going to the pool and preparing and eating dinner. We had enough time to stop at oldest son's house on the was home. All in all it was a lovely weekend.

I hope all is good with my flist and that you have a wonderful week.

I decided to try something a little different for this banner. It's a Disney Little Mermaid banner but it isn't a "human" version it's a cartoon.

I started off with this picture of Willow
 photo willo.jpg

Then I proceeded to make it into a cartoon. In PS it's filers -- posters edge -- then Image -- threshold. This makes a black and white image that has to get "color in" to look like a cartoon. I then pasted the cartoon Willow's head into the Disney picture. Tweaked the color and added some textures.

All this sounds a lot simpler that it actually was. ~_^

If you would like more details on how I made the banner... just ask!

You can find the banner at my icon journal

A few weeks ago, when I finished my 30 meme, I mentioned that I was going to try to do a "whatever tickles your fancy" post every once in a while. To tell the truth, it totally slipped my mind. Better late than never.

Did you know Mr. T. has his own house rehab show on FYI called "I Pity the Tool"? (Hee!) It's basically Mr. T. doing an "A Team" type destruction on a house, then renovating it. I guess he is following in the footsteps of Vanilla Ice who has his own house rehab show called "The Vanilla Ice Project".

Mr. T's rehabs seem to be "regular" houses, while Vanilla Ice seems to re-do over priced real estate and makes them more over priced. The best part of Vanilla Ice's show is his outside the house renovation...and of course, that he talks in rhyme.

The world sure is a strange place sometimes. Word to your mother. ~_^
I know the authors on my list are inspired by all sorts of things that can lead to numerous plot bunnies. I don't think it's always the same way with a/w. (At least it isn't for me.)

A few weeks ago I saw this Tsubaki texture set by jordannamorgan. The set was so beautiful I decided I had to use it to make something. After looking around I found this picture of SMG:

The finished banner can be found in my a/w journal here

P.S. The frame I used for the finished banner, I got from work, from one of the companies that makes photo albums. If you would like a copy of it drop me a PM. Since it's a PSD I would have to share it, through my dropbox and we would have to exchange personal emails. So PM me.

I'm on my way out the door, to work but wanted to do a quick post to thank everyone for all the lovely Birthday wishes.

I had a lovely day. Hubby and I went to a local animal shelter. We didn't come home with a pet because it too soon after Duck's passing but I missed seeing a pet every day. Going to the shelter helped me but was upsetting to hubby. We then went out to lunch and did a little shopping.

The bad thing was my favorite bakery was doing renovations and only partially open and I couldn't get the cake I wanted. *pouts* Hopefully they will be fully open this weekend and I'll get the my cake then. I know this is very child like but, to me, it doesn't feel like a birthday without cake.

All in all it was a nice day.

I made some comic icons for seasonal_spuffy free for all day. You can find them at seasonal spuffy here and at my icon journal here

I made the icons because I thought the spuffiness of the last few issues were cute beyond words.

Of course, I suspect this lovely spuffiness won't last but I want to enjoy it while I can. Especially since I have a sneaking suspicion that I know how all this will end. If my suspicion is right, it's going to break my heart, big time!

My theory on how the comics will break my heart.Collapse )
